Bloomsburg's Kellock Finishes First at Bison Open

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track teams participated in the Bucknell University Bison Open on Friday and Saturday.
On the women's side, Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) turned in a banner day for the Huskies by setting the school record in the 3,000 meters, placing first with a time of 10:14.87. Kellock trailed by 30 meters with three laps to go, but closed the gap quickly and was able to win the race by two seconds. The performance also qualifed her for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference(PSAC) Championships.
Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) qualified for the PSAC championships by finishing 5th in the 3,000 meters, running the event in 10:28.91. Shannon Hoffman (Watstontown/Warrior Run) finished 14th in that event, finishing in 11:05.
Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) led the way for the Huskies in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:54.45. Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) finished 14th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:53.74. This time qualified her for the PSAC championships. Crista Johnson (Nescopeck/Berwick) took 30th in the 5,000 as well.
In her first collegiate attempt in the 800 meters, Sandy Newell (St. Mary's/Elk County Catholic) finished 3rd with a time of 2:25.55, thus qualifying her for the PSAC championships, while Kristen Hoffman (Watstontown/Warrior Run) finished eighth.
The women's distance medley set a new school record with a time of 12:18.23, placing second in the event, while the 4X400 meter relay team finished 6th with a time of 4:17.54. In the mile portion of the distance medley relay, Kellock covered the distance in 5:03, a time that was faster than the winner of the mile-only race.
On the men's side, the Huskies were buoyed by a sixth-place finish from Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) in the 5,000 meters. Litvinov's time of 15:30.71 qualified him for the PSAC Championships. Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) also qualified in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:38.55. Auston Martzall (Meyerstown/ELCO) finished 15th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:16.69. Dan Tallarico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) placed 16th in both the 800 meters and the 1 mile run.
The Huskies return to action on Febuary 2nd when they participate in the East Stroudsburg-DeSchriver Invitational.
