Bloomsburg 4 x 800 Relay Team Wins at Cornell


CORNELL, NY-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams took part in the Cornell Invitational on Saturday in Cornell, NY.

Leading the way for the Huskies was the 4 x 800 relay team of Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin), Amber Hackenberg (Mifflinburg/Mifflinburg), Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) and Sandy Newell (St. Mary's/Elk County Catholic). The group finished first in a field of seven in a time of 9:54.50.

In the 800 meters, Newell was seventh of 42 finishers in a time of 2:21.46, while in the 3000 meter race Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) was ninth of 43 runners in a PSAC-qualifying time of 10:43.14.

In the 5,000 meter race, Christa Johnson (Nescopeck/Berwick) improved her best time running a 20:20 good for 14th place. In mile, two runners ran PSAC-qualifying time. Schwing was eighth of 38 in 5:15.82, while Hackenberg was 10th in 5:24.22.

In the long jump, Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/St. Pius X) had a season-best performance jumping 17 feet, one-half inch to take ninth place out of 28. Her distance also improved her PSAC-qualifying distance.

On the men's side, Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) was 10th of 33 runners in 9:05.08, while at 800-meters Dan Tallerico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) was eighth of 42 in 1:59.30. At 5,000 meters, Tim Marcoe (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) ran a 15:56.77.
