Amber Hackenberg Wins PSAC Indoor Title
EAST STROUDSBURG--Bloomsburg University's Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) took first place at 5,000 meters at the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track championships on Saturday.
Hackenberg, who was named All-American in cross country in the fall, easily took first place finishing with a time of 17:52 compared to a time of 18:19 for the second place finisher. The 5,000 meter title is the first indoor championship for Hackenberg.
In addition, the women's distance medley relay team of Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin), Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/Pius X), Sandy Newell (St. Mary's/Elk County Catholic) and Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) finished third to earn All-PSAC honors finishing in a time of 12:27.51.
On the men's side, Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) was eighth at 5,000 meters in 15:51.14, while Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXXIII) ran 15:53 at 5,000 meters.
Action will continue on Sunday at East Stroudsburg University.
