Track Teams Excel At Bucknell Meet
LEWISBURG-- Bloomsburg University's Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) set a school-record on Friday in the 5,000 meter event at the Bucknell University Distance Carnival to lead the men's and women's track teams.
Kellock, who set two BU indoor track records earlier in the year, ran a 17:27.76 to set the school mark, while also finishing seventh of 27 runners. In addition, Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) ran a 17:39.68 in the event, the fifth fastest time in school history, while Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) ran a 17:43.70. All three runners' times were good enough to place them on the national performance qualifying list and also qualify them for the PSAC championships.
In addition, Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) ran a national performance and PSAC- qualifying time at 10,000 meters finishing in 37:23.87, the sixth fastest time in school history. At 1,500 meters Sandy Newell (St. Mary's/Elk County Catholic) ran a time of 4:54.84.
For the men, the Huskies had four runners qualify for the PSAC championships in their respective events. In the 3,000 meter steeple chase, Jimmy Stockley (Elevrson/Twin Valley) ran a 9:47.40 to qualify for the PSAC championships, while at 5,000 meters Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) ran a PSAC-qualifying time of 15:21.37. Setting a personal-best time at 5,000 meters was Jake Stamey (Danville/Danville) with a time of 15:57.64.
At 10,000 meters, Mike Dalton (Lake Hoptatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) and Tim Marcoe (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) both qualified for the PSAC championships. Dalton ran a 32:09.67, the sixth fastest time in school history; while Marcoe ran a 32:41.64, the ninth best ever for the Huskies.
On Saturday at Bucknell, Dan Tallarico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) qualified for the PSAC championships in the 800 with a time of 1:57.66, while for the women, Newell ran a 2:21.09 at 800 meters.
