Hackenberg Competes at NCAA Championships

WALNUT, CA--Bloomsburg University senior Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) ended her outstanding collegiate career on Friday night at the NCAA Division II national track championships.

Hackenberg, who was making her third appearance at the NCAA championships, finished the 5,000 meter prelims in a time of 17:57.07 and failed to advance to Saturday's championship race.

While the track season did not end as Hackenberg would have hoped, she did bring home All-American honors in cross country last fall when she finished 34th at the 2007 national championships.

Last month, Hackenberg was honored for both her academic and athletic prowess when she was named the winner of the 2007-08 Bloomsburg University Senior Scholar-Athlete award and the top Female Senior Athlete of the Year.
