Dalton First at 5,000 Meters at PSAC Challenge Meet


Results

WEST CHESTER--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams competed on Saturday at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Challenge meet at West Chester.

For the men, Mike Dalton (Lake Hoptatcong/Pope John XXIII) took first in the 5,000 meter event in a time of 15:42.05 finishing nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Jimmy Stockley (Elverson/Twin Valley) was third in 9:53.53, while at 800 meters, Dan Tallarico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) was sixth in 1:59.43.

For the women, Sandy Newell (St. Mary's/Elk County Catholic) was third at 800 meters in 2:23.61, while Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) was ninth in 2:28.32. Hackenberg also raced at 1,500 meters and was fourth ion 4:53.10 with Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) fifth in 4:53.10 and Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) was eighth in 5:01.04. At 3,000 meters, Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) was fourth in 10:34.40.
