Waack and Corson Set School Marks at Bucknell Meet

LEWISBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track teams set several school records on Saturday at the 10th Annual Bison Open and Multi Event at the Gerhard Fieldhouse at Bucknell University.

In the Heptathlon Jamie Waack (Leesport/Schuylkill Valley) established a new school record finishing the event with a score of 4039 points. His point total ranks him in the top 12 in the PSAC, which the number of athletes which can qualify for the event at the PSAC championships. In Saturday's action Waack ran the 55 meter hurdle in 9.43 seconds; had a mark of 3.10 m (10' 2") and ran a 2:51.61 in the 1000 meters.

In the pole vault, Mitch Thompson (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) set a personal best with a mark of 4.35 meters (14' 3 1/4"), while Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) qualified for the PSAC championships at 3000 meters turning in a time of 8:58.07. At 1000 meters, Connor Showalter (Media/Penncrest) was sixth in 2:41.82, while Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was seventh in 2:43.43.

For the women, Katie Corson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) finished third set a new school record with a time of 1:22.89 at 500 meters, while Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) qualified for the PSAC championships at 3000 meters in 10:44.17. Samantha Rhood (Downingtown/Downingtown West) was the other big finished for the Huskies with a fourth in the 1000 meters in 3:19.19.

Bloomsburg will compete on Saturday at the DeShriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg.
