Huskies Have School Top 10 Performances at PSACs


Day One Results

EAST STROUDSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track teams wrapped up day one of the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships with some school top-10 best times.

In the men's 200-meter dash, Nate Snodgrass (Downingtown/Downingtown West) turned in a time of 23.40 in the preliminaries, a time that was fourth best in school history. In the 5000-meter event, Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton Area) was eighth in the race in a time of 15:36.44, the sixth-fastest time in school history. Bobby Furman was 12th in the same event in 15:43.50, the 10th best time in school history. In the pole vault, Mitchell Thompson (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) was 13th in 4.14 meters (13 feet, seven inches). In the heptathlon, Jamie Waack (Leesport/Schuylkill Valley) finished day one of the two-day event in seventh place with 2475 points. Waack had personal bests in three of four events on Saturday. He has a PR in the 55meter dash in 6.97; a PR in the long jump with a mark of 6.14m (20' 1.75") and a PR in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m (5 feet, 10 and three quarter inches). Waack is just 51 points out of third place place.

For the women, Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) was 10th in the 5000-meters in 18:30.37, the eighth-fastest time in school history. In the pole vault, Julianne Spitzer (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) finished 11th in 2.60 meters (8 feet, six and a quarter inches). The women's Distance Medley Relay team finished eighth to earn one point. Women's DMR finished 8th and scored 1 point. Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) (1200), Kathryn Corson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) (400), Samantha Rhood (Downingtown/Downingtown West) (800), Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) (1600) finished in a time of 12:52.85.

Action will continue on Sunday at East Stroudsburg University.
