Track Teams Open Outdoor Season at West Chester
Final Results
WEST CHESTER--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams opened the outdoor portion of their season at the Golden Ram Invitational at West Chester University.
For the women, Timera Bullock (Philadelphia/Lincoln) took ninth at 100-meters in 14.19 seconds and was 12th at 200-meters in 29.96 seconds. Katie Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) took first in the 800-meters in 2:27.43, winning by nearly nine seconds. Taking sixth was Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) in 2:38.53, while Christina Johnson (Nescopeck/Berwick) was seventh in 2:39.11.
At 1500-meters Schwing was second in 5:06.01, while Samantha Matthews (Baltimore County/Gleneig County) was third in 5:08.02 and Angela Borealo (Easton/Easton) fourth in 5:11.44. At 3000-meters, Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) was second in 10:53.60, while Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) was third in 11:30.50. In the pole vault Julianne Spitzer (Chalftont/Central Bucks West) was third clearing 2.43 meters (7 feet, 9 inches), while in the shot put, Lauren Dyer (Perkasie/Pennridge) was third with a toss of 8.03 meters (26 feet, 3 inches). Dyer also took sixth in the discus with a mark of 26.11 meters (85 feet, 6 inches). In the javelin, Lauren Bushey (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg Area) finished first and had a throw of 31.34 meters (102 feet, 8 inches).
For the men, Nate Snodgrass (Downingtown/Downingtown West) was fourth in the 400-meters in 52.51 seconds and seventh in the 200-meters in 22.98 seconds. At 800-meters, Connor Showalter (Media/Penncrest) was fourth in 2:07.15 with Kevin Grier (Downingtown/Downingtown West) fifth in 2:10.73.
In the 1500-meter event, the Huskies took the top five spots with Dave Moyer (Boyertown/Boyertown) first in 4:14.36 with Bobby Furman (Broomall/Marple Newton) second in 4:20.84 and Zack Sterkenberg (Palmyra/Palmyra) third in 4:22.56. In the 110-meter hurdles, Jamie Waack (Leesport/Schuylkill Valley) took fifth in 18.78 seconds. In the pole vault, Mitchell Thompson (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) cleared 4.11 meters (13 feet, 4 inches), while Chris Sokoloski (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) was third in the javelin with a toss of 51.16 meters (167 feet, 8 inches).
