Track and Field Teams Compete at IUP Meet
Final Results
BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Ed Fry Invitational on Saturday at Indiana, PA University. The men's team finished seventh, while the women were 10th.
For the men, Mitchell Thompson (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 14 feet, seven inches with Adam Mowry (Maple Glen/Hatboro/Horsham) fourth with 13-7. In the long jump, Jamie Waack (Leesport/Schuylkill Valley) was eighth with a jumper of 6.14 meters. Nate Snodgrass (Downingtown/Downingtown West) finished fourth in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. In the 200 he ran a 22.90 and in the 400 he had a personal best time of 51.51. Waack was also second in the 400 in 53.33. In the 1500 meter race Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was third in 4:080.40, while at 5,000 meters Josh Dunst (Reading/Exeter Twp) was third in 16:35.96. In relay action the 4 x 400 team of Snodgrass, Waack, Thompson and Connor Showalter (Media/Penncrest) were sixth in 3:37.19.
For the women, Katie Corson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) was sixth at 200 meters in 27.33, while Katilyn Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) was fifth in the 800 in 2:26.87. In the 1500, Meck was third in 4:47.32, while Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) was seventh in 5:05.16 and Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) eighth in 5:06.02. At 3000 meters, Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) qualified for the PSAC championships with a fourth place finish time of 10:48.73, while Angela Borealo was sixth in 11:04.27.
In the high jump, Hannah Becker (Grantville/Northern Lebanon) was eight with a mark of 4-8, while in the triple jump she was fifth with a mark of 9.91 meters.
Sandy Anceravage (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) broke the heptathlon record set in 1985 with a score of 3539 points. She had a 100 meter time of 17.1 seconds; a high jump of 4-10; a shot put of 31 feet; a 200 meter time of 29.3 seconds; a long jump of 13-1; a javelin toss of 115-10 and an 800 meter time of 2:47.7.
