Bloomsburg University Men's and Women's Track Qualifies for PSAC Championships
BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track and field teams have qualified 12 athletes for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning Sunday, March 1st at East Stroudsburg University.
The men's team will send eight athletes to the meet, including senior Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton Area), who qualified in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:58.07 as well as the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:48.36. Senior Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) qualified for the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:47.58.
Freshman David Moyer (Boyertown/Boyertown) qualified for the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:50.98, while freshman Bobby Furman (Broomall/Marple Newton) also qualified in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:38.74.
Sophomore Mitch Thompson (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) and Adam Mowry (Maple Glen/Hatboro Horsham) both qualified in the pole vault competition. Mowry's vault of 4.10 meters and Thompson vault of 4.35 meters were enough to place them in the field. Sophomore Jamie Waack (Leesport/Schuylkill Valley) qualified in the men's heptathlon with 4047 points, while freshman Nate Snodgrass (Downingtown/Downingtown West) qualified for the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.48.
Four members of the women's team also qualified for the championships, led by senior Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton), who qualified in both the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:27.45 and the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:54.82. Senior Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) also qualified for the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:42.47, and freshman Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) qualified for the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:02.74. In the pole vault, freshman Julianne Spitzer (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) qualified with a height of 2.75 meters. The distance medley relay team also qualified for the championships.
