Huskies Compete at PSAC East Challenge Meet


Final Results

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed on Saturday at the PSAC East Challenge meet at Millersville University.

Posting finishes that qualified them for the upcoming Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships were Sandy Anceravage (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) who finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 118'4" (36.07m). This also broke the school record by Lisa Diehl set back in 1982 of 117'2.5". Also, Katilyn Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) qualified in 1500 meters finishing third in 4:57.99, while Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) bettered her qualifying time in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:50.04. Also, Mitchell Thompson (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) qualified in the pole vault clearing 13'7.25" (4.10m).

Other top finishers for the Huskies were Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) in the 3,000 meters who was fourth in 10:55.04; Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) sixth in the 3,000 with a time of 11:05.13; Meck sixth at 800 meters in 2:27.65; Katie Corson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) seventh at 400 meters in 63.29 seconds; Dan Sietsma (Mahwaw, NJ/Eastern Christian) sixth at 5,000 meters in 16:42.00.

Erin Hanosek (Macungie/Emmaus) ran a lifetime best in the 200 with a time of 28.26 (10th best in school history and Julianne Spitzer (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) broke her own school mark in the pole vault with jump of 8'62.5" (2.60 meters).
