Bloomsburg Falls to West Chester in Women's BasketballWEST CHESTER—The West Chester University women's basketball team got 18 points from Kiera Manlove and went on to defeat Bloomsburg University 73-65 in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Huskies (12-8, 4-3 PSAC East) held an early lead before the Golden Rams came rallied and took a lead midway through the first half. West Chester led by as many as eight points in the opening 20 minutes before the Huskies fought back and got to within four points, 35-31, at the break. Manlove led the Golden Rams with 14 points in the opening half. In the second half, the Golden Rams (15-6, 6-1 PSAC East) continued to lead before the Huskies rallied and took a lead, 60-59, on a basket by Jen Bryan (Denver/Cocalico). But, Kiesha Mack came back down for West Chester to give the home lead the lead for good at 61-60. Then over the final three minutes of play, West Chester outscored the Huskies, 12-4, to pull away for the win. Kiera Manlove finished with 18 points for the Golden Rams, while Mack added 13. Carolyn Muldoon chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Elise McCoy added 10 points. Bryan's 25 points and 10 rebounds led the Huskies, while Karen Yeasted (West Lawn/Holy Name) added 16 points. Bloomsburg will host Millersville in key PSAC East matchup on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Nelson Field House. |
