Bloomsburg Downs Wilmington in Second Game of Capital Key ClassicALBANY, NY —Michelle Albanese (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to an 88-47 win over Wilmington College in round two of the Capital Key Classic in Albany, NY. The Huskies, who suffered a cold shooting game in the first game of the tournament, were red-hot Sunday hitting 18 of 24 shots (75 percent) in the opening 20 minutes of action. The team was also hitting from three-point range in the first half, connecting on five of seven from beyond the arc, to help Bloomsburg built a 52-22 lead at the break. Albanese were perfect from the floor in the game hitting 6-6 from the floor, including 3-3 from three-point range. Albanese also was 2-2 from the foul line and had three assists and no turnovers in just 16 minutes of action. Along with Albanese, Dana Thompson (Pocono Lake/Allentown, NJ HS) scored 13 points, while Stef Kline and Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens) each added nine points. Bloomsburg also played solid defense limiting Wilmington to just 29 percent (16-54) shooting for the game, while forcing 26 turnovers. The Huskies improved to 5-2 with the win and will be in action Monday morning at 10 a.m. against LeMoyne College in a consolation game. |
