Bloomsburg Players Sweep PSAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors
BLOOMSBURG-Two Bloomsburg University women's basketball players, Jen Bryan (Denver/Cocalico) and Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) swept the weekly honors from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division this week.
Bryan, a 5-11 senior, was named the PSAC Eastern Player of the Week after averaging 17 points and 9.5 rebounds a game in two games last week. Bryan scored 17 points and had 15 rebounds in a win over Slippery Rock Saturday, Jan. 11th and followed that up with 17 points and four rebounds against California (PA). In the game with Cal, Bryan became the 14th player in Bloomsburg history to reach 1,000 career points when she hit a jumper with 17 minutes to play in the first half.
For the season, Bryan is averaging a team-high 15 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Kauczka, a 5-11 freshman, was named the PSAC Eastern Division Rookie of the Week for her play last week. In two games, Kauczka came off the bench to average 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Huskies. She got career-highs in points with 15 and in rebounds with 10 in a win over Slippery Rock, and then had 10 points against California.
For the season, Kauczka is averaging 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds a game.
Bloomsburg, 7-5, will open PSAC Eastern Division play Wednesday night at Millersville starting at 6 p.m.
