Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Wins in Overtime

MILLERSVILLE —Freshman Dominque Deveaux scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 93-80, overtime win against Bowie State at the Millersville University Tip-Off Classic.
Bloomsburg trailed by five, 70-65, with 5:50 left in regulation, but rallied to force the extra session. Sophomore Jamie Kauczka hit two free throws with 3:50 to play to make it 70-67. At the 1:50 mark, Deveaux hit two free throws to get the Huskies within one at 70-69. Bowie State's Rachael Robinson then hit one of two free throws with 38 seconds left to make it 71-69.Deveaux then came down and scored a layup to send the game into overtime.
In the extra period, Kauczka scored inside just 11 seconds into overtime to give the Huskies the lead for good. After Bowie State cut the lead to one, 63-72, the Huskies went on an 8-2 run to open a seven-point lead 81-74 with 2:22 to play. Stef Klkine hit a free throw and Deveaux scored four points in the run.
After the Bulldogs got to within four at 81-77, the Huskies went on a 10-1 run to blow the game open and lead by 13 at 91-78. Michelle Albanese scored four of the Huskies' 10 points in the stretch.
In the first half, the Huskies jumped out to a quick start leading 13-2 after five and a half minutes of action with Deveaux getting four points and Albanese three in the opening minutes.
Bowie State rallied and eventually took a 27-26 lead on a jumper by Tyhler Davis with 6:22 to play in the first half. The teams then traded leads down the stretch before the Huskies went into the locker room leading by one, 38-37.
In the second half, the Huskies led by as many as seven points, 54-47, with 13:22 to play on a layup by Meggi Rothermel. However, the Bulldogs rallied again and used a 10-2 run to take a 57-56 lead with 10:33 left in the game. The Bulldogs then extended the lead to 70-65 setting the stage for the end of game heroics.
Along with Deveaux's 22 points, Kauczka added 18, while Albanese scored 15 points and had seven assists. In addition, Rothermel scored 13 points and Kline 12. The Huskies also shot the ball well hitting on 50.9 percent of its shots (29-57) for the game.
Bowie State was led in scoring by Rachael Robinson with 27 points, while Allison Hardy chipped in with 22.
Bloomsburg, 3-1, will be idle till playing at Bowie State on Dec. 4th.
