Huskies Down Georgian Court in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG—Freshman Dominique Deveaux (Coatesville/Coatesville) scored a team-high 21 points to lead Bloomsburg University to a 91-55 win over Georgian Court College in women's basketball action Monday night.

The Lions opened the game with an 8-2 lead behind six points from Lauren Meyer. Bloomsburg tied the game at 10-all on back-to-back three pointers from Michelle Albanese with 14 minutes to play in the half.

After Georgian Court went back in front 13-12, the Huskies went on a 16-2 run over the next four minutes highlighted by seven points from Deveaux. Bloomsburg then went into halftime with an 18-point lead, 43-25, after Deveaux hit a couple of free throws with 10 seconds left in the half.

The Huskies pushed the lead to 20 points, 50-30, early in the second half on a three-point play by Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West). The Lions, though, rallied and went on a 12-2 run of their own to trim the deficit to 10 points, 52-42, with 12:28 to play.

From that point on it was all Bloomsburg. The Huskies used a 17-4 run over the next six minutes to grab a 69-46 lead and put the game out of reach. Deveaux played a big part in the rally for Bloomsburg netting eight points for the Huskies.

Along with 21 from Deveaux, Tiffany Metzler (Mechanicsburg/Holy Name) added a career-high 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds, while Stef Kline (Sinking Spring/Wilson) added 12 points and Michelle Albanese (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) 10.

Meyer was the lone Lion in double figures with a game-high 27 points.

The Huskies, now 7-9, host Mansfield on Wednesday night in PSAC East Division action. Georgian Court falls to 3-11 with the loss.
