Bloomsburg Tops Lock Haven in Women's Basketball

Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) scored 15 of a career high 22 points in the second half to lead Bloomsburg to a 76-71 win over PSAC West opponent Lock Haven. Kauczka also tied a career high in rebounds in the game with 12.
The Huskies, playing their first game of the season at Nelson Field House, trailed 36-33 at half but tied the game early in the second on a Michelle Albanese (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) three-point basket. The teams tied again at 38-38 but the Huskies took the lead for good on a lay-up by Dominique Deveaux (Coatesville/Coatesville) with 19:03 remaining. Lock Haven kept the game close throughout the second half, cutting the Bloomsburg lead to three points with :31 to play. However, Kauczka was fouled on the ensuing inbound play with :07 left in the game. She connected on both foul shots and propelled the Huskies to the victory.
Bloomsburg shot 37% from the field compared to 43% by Lock Haven but out rebounded the Lady Bald Eagles 23-15 on the offensive glass. The Huskies also forced 21 turnovers. The Huskies also went seven of eight from the foul line in the second half.
Aside from Kauczka's career high, Deveaux and Albanese chipped in with 17 points apiece to lead the Bloomsburg attack. Stef Kline (Sinking Spring/Wilson) also added nine points and four rebounds for the Huskies.
The Huskies return to action on December 17th at Slippery Rock at 6 p.m.
