Bloomsburg Falls to Slippery Rock in Women's Basketball

SLIPPERY ROCK-The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team showed the effects of not having played in 11 days as it fell to Slippery Rock, 64-48, Wednesday night. It was the Huskies first game since Dec. 6th.
After a tight first half that saw the Rock lead 30-25 at the break, the Rock pushed its lead to nine points, 39-30. The Huskies, though, rallied and used an 8-1 run to get back within two at 40-38. However, the Huskies could never get the tying basket and saw the Rock slowly build its lead. Slippery Rock was able to take advantage of some cold shooting by Bloomsburg (just 4-20 from three point range) and 21 turnovers.
Slippery Rock was led by in scoring by Stacey Green with 16 points, while Kristin Bonner added 15. Bloomsburg was led in scoring by Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) who scored 14 points, while Michelle Albanese (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) and Dominque Deveaux (Coatesville/Coatesville) added 10 each.
The Huskies, now 3-4, will face California (PA), ranked second in the country, Thursday at 6 p.m. Slippery Rock improves to 4-5 with the win.
