Bloomsburg Downs Wilmington in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG—Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 97-42 win over Wilmington College in the first game of the Millersville University Tip-Off Classic Friday afternoon.

Bloomsburg went on a 21-4 run to grab control of the game after Wilmington took its only lead of the game at 2-0 in the opening minute of play. Kauczka scored six points in the opening eight minutes, while Meggi Rothermel (Minersville/Nativity) added five for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies stretched their advantage to 49-18 at halftime and later took their biggest lead of the game at 58 points (84-26) with 8:58 left in the game.

Along with Kauczka's 16 points, Rothermel and Domique Deveaux (Coatesville/Coatesville) added 12 points each with Tiffany Metzler (Mechanicsburg/Holy Name) chipping in 10. In all 13 of the Huskies 14 players scored in the game. Sophomore Courtney Camacho (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg North) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Bloomsburg as the Huskies held a 51-31 edge in that category.

Wilmington (0-1) was led by Kate Gallagher's 10 points.

Bloomsburg will face Bowie State on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the second game of the tournament.
