Bloomsburg Loses Conference Game to West Chester In Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG— Three West Chester players scored in double figures leading the Golden Rams to a 91-71 PSAC Eastern Division victory over Bloomsburg, Saturday in women's basketball.

With the loss, the Huskies drop to 10-12, 3-4 PSAC East while West Chester improves to 12-9, 7-0 PSAC East.

The Huskies jumped out to an early 8-2 lead after a bucket by Michelle Albanese (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's). West Chester regrouped after a timeout, going on a 26-13 run to take a 24-21 lead. The Golden Rams led by as many as nine points in the first half, but Jen Berta (Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) helped cut the deficit to 38-32 right before halftime.

Bloomsburg then tied the game at 51-51 with 12:50 remaining in the contest on an Albanese jumper. Seconds later West Chester took the lead for good on two Carolyn Muldoon foul shots. The Huskies again chipped away at the West Chester lead after a three-point basket by Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens) made the score 68-65. However, a Kiesha Mack jumper helped spark a West Chester run as they outscored the Huskies, 23-6, in the final 7:41 of the game.

In the loss, Bloomsburg was led by Dominique Deveaux (Coatesville/Coatesville) who scored 24 points. Fellow freshman Jen Berta scored a career-high 15 points in the game, shooting 5-7 from the field. Michelle Albanese had a solid effort in the loss scoring 12 points to go along with five assists, five rebounds, and four steals.

Keisha Mack of West Chester led all scorers with 33 points, including seven, three-pointers. Carolyn Muldoon added 22 points and 10 rebounds and Elise McCloy chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, as they travel to face PSAC foe Millersville. The Marauders defeated Bloomsburg 65-53 earlier in the season. Tip-off for Wednesday's contest is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
