Bloomsburg Downs Caldwell In Women's Basketball

Game stats

CALDWELL, NJ —Gabrielle Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 64-49 win over Caldwell College.

The Huskies led by six at the break and quickly opened an 11-point lead with just under 16 minutes to go in the second half, with senior Tiffany Metzler scoring six points in an 8-3 run. After five straight points by Shannon Coyle cut the lead to eight, Bloomsburg went on a 10-1 run to increase its lead to 57-40 with 8:35 remaining to effectively put the game out of reach. Freshman Kim Dodson scored six points during that stretch, while the Cougars missed 10 straight field goal attempts. Coyle's lay-up with 7:12 left broke the drought and got the Cougars to within 15, but they would get no closer.

Miskinis, a transfer from Bucknell, led the way with 17 points, including two, three-pointers, while Tiffany Metzler (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) added 10 points. Michelle Albanese (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) added seven points and is now within 18 of 1,000 for her career.

Shannon Coyle led the Caldwell attack with 13 points. The Cougars are now 0-3 for the year.

Bloomsburg, 2-1, will host Virginia Union on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
