February 7, 2005 Bloomsburg Downs East Stroudsburg in Women's BasketballEAST STROUDSBURG —Bloomsburg University placed four players in double figures as it downed East Stroudsburg, 76-54, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Monday night. The Huskies led from start to finish in the game opening an 11-point lead, 16-5, in the first eight and half minutes of action. All five starters scored at least two points in the opening run for Bloomsburg. The lead for the Huskies would later stretch to as many as 16 points, 29-13, on a three-pointer from Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens) with 4:13 left in the half before the Warriors would close to within 11 points at the break. Bloomsburg quickly put the game out of reach at the start of second half action going on a 12-3 run in the three minutes of the period. Meggi Rothermel (Minersville/Nativity BVM) scored five of the 12 points with freshman Angel Maldonaldo-Huff (Willow Grove/Abington) also hitting a three-pointer in the run. The Huskies would later stretch the lead 27-points, 57-30, after a layup from Tiff Metzler (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) with 11:35 to play in the game. Bloomsburg's largest lead of the night came with 5:57 left after a three-pointer from Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) put the Huskies in front, 65-36, before settling for the 22 point victory. Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) led the Huskies with 15 points, while Miskinis added 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Burkhart also added 13 points with Rothermel and Maldonado-Huff each getting 10 points. Dana Thompson (Pocono Lake/Allentown, NJ) added nine points, eight rebounds and six assists. Niki Cox led the Warriors, 8-13, 2-5 in the PSAC East, with 11 points, while Maryellen Onofre added 10. Bloomsburg, 10-8, 4-3 in the PSAC East, will host Kutztown on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
