Bloomsburg Falls to East Stroudsburg in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday by a score of 79-58 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup.

In the opening 10 minutes of the game the two teams traded leads before the Warriors (13-2, 3-0 PSAC East) took a four point lead, 17-13, on a three-pointer by DeAnna Rayam with nine minutes left in the half. The Huskies (5-13, 1-3 PSAC East), though, rallied and went on a 13-5 run to take its biggest lead of the game, 26-22, after a three-pointer by Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan). Leading the comeback for the Huskies was Joyce with six points and Nicole Boone (Mountaintop/Crestwood) with four points. However, the Warriors closed out the half with a10-2 rally to lead by four at the break, 34-30.

Bloomsburg started the second half with a three-pointer from Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) and a bucket by Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) and a free throw from Joyce to take a 36-34 lead. That would turn out to the Huskies last lead of the game as the Warriors used an 18-2 run to go up 52-38. Alyssa Antolick led the run for East Stroudsburg with eight points.

After the Warriors stretched its lead to 67-48, the Huskies got back to within 14 with 4:15 to play after a jumper by Boone. But, that would be as close as the Huskies would get in the game.

Bloomsburg, playing short-handed with just six players in uniform, got 20 points from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) and 13 from Miskinis. East Stroudsburg got 20 points from Antolick and 14 from Jackie Yandrisevits.

The Huskies return to action on Friday at the District of Columbia starting at 7 p.m.
