Bloomsburg University Women's Basketball Falls to Millersville, 74-56

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University women’s basketball team was defeated by Millersville, 67-49, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, Millersville took a 15-7 advantage over the first eight minutes of the game, taking advantage of 3-13 shooting by the Huskies. A Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) jumper and a pair of Monica Dennison (Zion Grove/Hazleton Area) free-throws cut the Millersville lead to three, 15-12, with just over ten minutes left in the first half. Millersville would respond with a 9-4 run over the next six minutes and led 24-16 with four minutes left in the first. Millersville would take a 34-24 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Dennison and Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J.Roberts) both hit jumpers to keep the game within 15 points with 12 minutes remaining. From there, Millersville would pull away. Gladene St. Julien scored 29 points and Millersville would lead by as many as 22 with four minutes remaining.

Gallagher and Dennison both led the Huskies with nine points, while Healy added eight .

With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 10-15 overall, 2-10 in the PSAC East.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday night when they host Mansfield. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
