Dana Wieller Earns Second Straight Freshman of the Week Honor

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University's women's basketball player Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Freshman of the Week for the period ending November 22. This is her second straight freshman of the week award.

Wieller scored 50 total points and combined to go 9-for-17 from three-point range, leading the Huskies to a 1-1 record at the Nyack Invitational this past weekend. In the first game against Dominican College, an 80-79 loss on a buzzer-beating shot, Wieller scored a team-high 21 points in 24 minutes. She shot 6-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, connected on 5-of-6 tries from the free throw line and grabbed two rebounds. In the 80-72 overtime win over Nyack College, Wieller scored a game-high 29 points in 44 minutes, shooting 9-of-23 from the field, 5-of-12 from three-point range. She also made 6-of-9 free throws, grabbed four rebounds and had two assists. The 29 points were the most by a Bloomsburg player since Meggi Rothermel scored 31 against Pitt-Johnstown on February 19, 2005.

The Huskies will take a week off before playing in their home opener on Monday, November 30 against Wilmington. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
