Bloomsburg and Kutztown Advance to PSAC Women's Tennis Final
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team earned a trip to the finals of the 2005 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship after topping Indiana (PA) on Friday, 5-1.
The Huskies will face Kutztown in the finals Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Kutztown was a 5-1 winner over California (PA) in the other semifinal.
Bloomsburg won two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead over Indiana. The duo of Lauren Colfer and Tracy Nissenbaum were 8-4 winners at number two while Emily Murphy and Torie Cunningham were 8-2 winners at number three.
In singles action, Murphy was a 6-2, 6-0 winner while Cunningham won 6-1, 6-1 at number four. Lauren Colfer was also a 6-4, 6-0 winner playing at number six singles.
Kutztown dropped California in the other semifinal by a 5-1 score. The Golden Bears took two of three doubles matches and were winners at numbers three, four, and six singles.
No consolation match will be played for the women on Saturday.
