Bloomsburg Downs California (PA) in NCAA Women's Tennis Opening Round
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team defeated California (PA) University by a 5-0 score in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis championships on Friday.
The Huskies (13-6) swept all three doubles matches with the team of Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Emily Murphy (Worcester/Methacon) winning by an 8-2 score.
In singles action, Wyckoff picked up the Huskies' fourth point of the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Melissa Anderson. Bloomsburg's winning point came from Murphy who posted a 6-0, 7-5 win over Linda Escobedo.
Bloomsburg will face Millersville at 10 a.m. on Saturday in second round action and berth in the NCAA championship round next week in Orlando, FL.
