Bloomsburg Awarded Match After Protest Upheld
BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University women's tennis had its loss to Kutztown University last week reversed after a protest was filed by the Huskies.
The #6 position match originally won by Kutztown's Lauren Losoncy over Bloomsburg's Lauren Colfer will be defaulted. A point will be awarded to Bloomsburg thus changing the results of the team match in favor of Bloomsburg 5-4.
One of the Huskies reasons for the protest was that Bloomsburg felt Losoncy was playing out of position in the lineup. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) commissioner Steve Murray upheld the protest giving Bloomsburg the win.
Match Story from April 13
The Huskies got off to a 2-1 lead after the doubles with wins at the second and third positions. At second, Tracy Nissenbaum and Lauren Colfer got an 8-6 win, after trailing by a game most of the match. The third doubles team of Torie Cunningham and Emily Murphy came back from a 3-0 deficit to get an 8-6 win. At first doubles, Emily Pratt and Iida Hokkanen fell, 8-3.
In singles, Cunningham got a quick 6-3, 6-0 win, while at fifth singles, Kim Harvey won in a third-set replacing tiebreaker 3-6, 6-2, 13-11.
The Huskies will travel to East Stroudsburg for their final PSAC match of the regular season.
