Huskies Beat NJIT in Women's Tennis

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team shut out New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in singles to get an 8-1 win on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Huskies improve to 9-5 on the season and remain at 5-0 in the PSAC

In doubles, Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) and Emily Murphy (Montgomery/ Methacton) got an 8-2 win at second, while at third, Jaclyn Kelly (Havertown/Haverford) and Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/Sagemont, FL) won by default. At first doubles, the team of Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) and Emily Pratt (New Hope/New Hope-Solebury) overcame a 6-3 deficit to taking a 7-6 lead, but fell

9-7.

Hokkanen got a 6-3, 6-3 win at first singles, while at second, Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) got a 6-2, 6-2 win. At third singles, Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover)

won in a third-set replacing super tiebraker, 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3). At fourth singles, Kim Harvey (Jamesport, NY/Riverhead) got a 6-1, 6-2 win, while at fifth, Nissenbaum blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Kelly got a forfeit at sixth singles for the Huskies.

The Huskies will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host PSAC-rival Kutztown at 3:00 p.m.
