Bloomsburg Tops University of Sciences at NCAA Regionals

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team advanced to tomorrow's NCAA East Regional Final by defeating the University of Sciences in Philadelphia, 5-0, at Bloomsburg University on Thursday afternoon.

Bloomsburg jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage after doubles play. Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki/ Finland) and Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/ Harborfields) earned an 8-1 win at number one doubles, while Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/ Hoover) and Emily Murphy (Worcester/ Methacton) won 8-1 at number two doubles. Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/ William Allen) and Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/ St. Basil Academy) teamed up to win 8-2 at number three.

In singles matches, Cunningham won a 6-0, 6-0 match at number two and Colfer won a 6-0, 6-1 match at number four to clinch the victory for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg will play Queens College (NY) tomorrow at 9 a.m. for chance to play in the NCAA final sixteen in Kansas City, Missouri on May 9.
