Torie Cunningham named PSAC Tennis Player of the Week

BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University sophomore Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/ Harborfields) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending April 2nd.

Cunningham helped lead the Huskies to an undefeated week as Bloomsburg defeated West Chester 9-0 on Thursday, East Stroudsburg 9-0 on Friday and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) 6-3 on Sunday.

Cunningham was a perfect 6-0 combined in her doubles and singles matches. She went 3-0 in singles matches, only losing a total of two games combined. Cunningham defeated East Stroudsburg's Jennifer Litchman 6-0, 6-0, West Chester's Emily Hildebrand 6-0, 6-1 and NJIT's Eva Salierno 6-0, 6-1.

In her doubles matches Cunningham teamed up with partner Emily Murphy (Montgomorey/ Methacton) to defeat West Chester 8-0, while Cunningham and Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) defeated East Stroudsburg 8-4 and NJIT 8-6.

For the season, Cunningham has an 11-3 singles record and a 14-4 doubles record.

Bloomsburg, 10-1, will host Duquesne on Thursday at 4 p.m.
