Huskies Roll to 9-0 Win over East Stroudsburg
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University women's tennis got its second win of the week with a 9-0 PSAC East victory over East Stroudsburg. The shut out is the third for the Huskies this season.
The Huskies started out the match, sweeping all three doubles positions. Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) and Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) got an 8-4 win at first doubles, while at second, Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/Sagemont, FL) won by the same score. At third doubles, Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) and Jaclyn Kelly (Haverford/Havertown) cruised to an 8-1 win.
In singles, Anna Melnikova (Moscow, Russia) got a 6-1, 6-3 win at first singles, while at second, Emily Murphy (Montgomery/ Methacton) blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. At third, Cunningham got a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Wyckoff won at fourth singles by the same score. At fifth singles, Colfer won 6-4, 6-1, while at the sixth slot, Nissenbaum got a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Huskies will host NJIT on Sunday at 9 a.m. as a part of the 2006 BU Duals.
