Coyne Awarded ITA East Regional Coach of the Year

BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University men's and women's tennis coach, Marty Coyne has been awarded the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Women's Coach of the Year award.

Coyne led the 2006 Huskies to a 17-4 record and a trip to the NCAA Final Sixteen. On May 5, the Huskies won the NCAA East Regional, defeating Queens College (NY) to advance to the final sixteen. In addition, Bloomsburg finished undefeated in conference play and won their third consecutive PSAC Championship under Coyne.

During his 12-year career as head coach of the women's team, Coyne has led the team to 11 consecutive trips to the NCAA Division II Championships and seven PSAC crowns. Coyne was also named ITA East Region coach of the year in 2004 and was PSAC Coach of the Year in 1995, 1996, 2004, and 2005.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is a non-profit service organization, which serves as the governing body of collegiate tennis in the United States.
