Bloomsburg Women's Tennis Downs Queens; Advances to Nationals

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team defeated Queens College (NY) 5-2 on Friday morning in the second round of the NCAA East Regional Tournament at Bloomsburg University. With the win, the Huskies advance to the NCAA Final Sixteen in Kansas City, Missouri starting on May 9.

The Huskies took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, getting an 8-5 victory from Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/ Hoover) and Emily Murphy (Worcester/ Methacton) at second doubles and an 8-4 win from Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/ St. Basil Academy) and Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/ William Allen) at number three doubles.

Wyckoff then earned an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles to give Bloomsburg a 3-1 lead. After Queens won at number one singles, Nissenbaum made it 4-2 at sixth singles, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4). Colfer then clinched the victory for the Huskies with a 6-3, 6-4 win at number five singles.

Bloomsburg improves to 17-3 on the season.
