Bloomsburg Women's Tennis Advances to PSAC Finals
BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team advanced to the finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships with a 5-2 semifinal win over Slippery Rock on Friday afternoon.
The Rock took the first two of three doubles matches on the afternoon to take a 2-1 lead, but Bloomsburg dominated singles play winning four points to take the match.
The Huskies earned singles points from Emily Murphy (Worcester/Methacton) who got a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win at number two while at number three, Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) won 6-0, 6-1. At number five singles, Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) took a 6-2, 6-1 match and at number six Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/William Allen) won 6-2, 6-3.
At doubles, the team of Colfer and Nissenbaum won by a 8-1 margin.
Bloomsburg will play California (Pa.) in the finals tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at Shippensburg University.
