Bloomsburg Women's Tennis Opens Season with Win

CLARION—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team got their first dual match win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Clarion University.

At first doubles, Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) and Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) got an 8-0 win, while at two and three doubles the teams of Emily Pratt (New Hope/New Hope-Solebury) and Emily Murphy (Montgomery/Methacton) and Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/Sagemont, FL) and Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) both won by a score of 8-2.

In singles, Hokkanen got a 6-2, 6-2 win at one, while at third, Cunningham got a 6-1, 6-0 win. At fourth singles, Murphy won 6-1, 6-0 and at fifth Pratt got a 6-2, 6-4 win. Nissenbaum rounded out the team scoring with a 6-0, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

The Huskies will host the 2005 ITA East Regional this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
