Johnson Ends NCAA Wrestling Championship Run
ALBANY, NY - Bloomsburg wrestler Justin Johnson fell to Jimi Massey of Virginia in the Division I NCAA National Wrestling Championships on Friday evening. The bout ended in a 7-7 tie, but Massey won the tiebreaker to come away with the victory.
Johnson, the lone Bloomsburg qualifier for the NCAA Championships, finishes the season with an overall record of 16-10. At the NCAA Championships Johnson finished with a 2-2 record. His two victories earned three points for the Huskies in the NCAA Championships, putting Bloomsburg in a tie for 52nd place with Boston University, Cal State Bakersfield, Duke, Eastern Illinois, and Kent State.
Minnesota finished with 126.5 points to earn the National Championship. Iowa State edged Oklahoma for second place with 104.0 points. Oklahoma finished third with 101.5 points.
