February 8, 2002Bloomsburg Comeback Falls Short in Wrestling Loss to East StroudsburgBLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University wrestling team saw its comeback fall short in falling to East Stroudsburg, 22-19, Friday night at the Nelson Field House. East Stroudsburg (7-7) jumped out to a big lead early on, 18-0, after winning the first four bouts of the night. Keith Kleckner started the night for the Warriors by pinning Brandon White at 149 pounds before Mark Dudeck earned a 7-1 decision over B.J. Mikeska. At 165 pounds, Brandon Mihalko won 9-2 over the Huskies' Duane Bastress to make it 12-0 with Dan Roy making it 18-0 after pinning Tom Anderson at 174 pounds. Bloomsburg (1-11) started its comeback with a 9-3 decision by Justin Johnson at 184 pounds over the Warriors, Anthony Petrock. Andy Ludlow at 197 was losing 4-3 in his match when he recorded a first period pin in 2:09. Heavyweight Tony Milone then won 4-0 over Marc Bauknecht to pull Bloomsburg to within 18-12. At 125 pounds the Huskies' Brock Hite won 15-5 to make it a two-point match at 18-16. Then at 133 pounds Bloomsburg's Mark Piermattei won 5-2 giving the Huskies their first lead of the night, 19-18. In the night's final and deciding match, the Warriors Brad Kleckner jumped out to a 10-1 first period lead on the strength of two near falls and went on to a 16-5 win giving East Stroudsburg a 22-19 win. It was just the ninth win against 34 losses and one tie for East Stroudsburg over the Huskies. The Huskies' will be in action again, February 16th, hosting Rider University in a dual meet.
