Bloomsburg University to Honor Senior Wrestlers

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University wrestling team will host their final home meet of the 2002-03 season Wednesday at the Nelson Field House as they take on Rutgers University beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Huskies are 8-7 on the year and are coming off a win over East Stroudsburg University, 23-15, last Friday.

Prior to the match with Rutgers, Bloomsburg will recognize its three departing seniors. Those parting ways with the Huskies at seasons' end will be George Carter, Hunter Guenot and Brock Hite.

For his career Carter has posted a mark of 118-24, fourth most wins in the history of the program. Carter has qualified for three NCAA championships in his career and won an Eastern Wrestling League title in the 1999-00 season. After taking red-shirting a year ago, Carter has wrestled his way to a record of 28-4 with a team-high eight pins and 12 major decisions.

Guenot leads the Huskies in wins this year with a mark of 30-3. For his career he has a mark of 85-42 and has made two trips to the NCAA Championships. He is also a two-time PSAC champion.

Hite has been sidelined for much of the season due to an injury and wrestled in just 12 matches with a record of 7-5. A year ago he posted a mark of 18-8 and finished fifth at the EWL championships. He finished his Bloomsburg career with a mark of 59-35. He is also a Bloomsburg Scholar-Athlete.

Following the match with Rutgers, the Huskies will be preparing for the EWL championships, March 8-9 at West Virginia.
