Huskies Fall to Edinboro in Wrestling

EDINBORO —The Bloomsburg University wrestling team lost to Edinboro, 28-16, in an Eastern Wrestling League matchup Friday night.

Brian Sellers got the Huskies an early 3-0 lead with a 3-1 decision over Chris Pruden in the 125-pound weight class. The Fightin Scots went ahead 4-3 when Jacob Gray won 14-0 over Bryant Hart at 133 pounds.

Edinboro won the next two weight classes to take a 13-3 lead before Josh Loew earned a win 12-4 major decision win at 157 pounds.

In the bout, Loew fell behind 2-0, then, got a reversal to knot the score at 2-2 at the end of one period. In the second period, Loew scored the only points of the period on a takedown, then picked up three takedowns in the third period to bring the Huskies to within six points at 13-7.

Edinboro picked up a technical fall at 165 pounds to lead 18-7 before the Huskies' Jim Bertulis pinned Ryan Yates in 4:36 at the 174 pounds. Edinboro went up 22-13 with a win by major decision at 184 pounds. Bloomsburg's Chad Hoare then won his 17th match of the year with a 4-1 win over Mike LaBella at 197 pounds to make it 22-16. The Fightin Scots sealed the win with a pin at heavyweight to earn a 28-16 win.

Edinboro goes to 7-3, 4-0 in the EWL, while the Huskies fall to 6-7, 2-3 in the EWL. Bloomsburg will host Cleveland State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
