Huskies Take Both at Millersville Duals
BLOOMSBURGThe Bloomsburg University wrestling improved to 6-6 on the season with wins over Slippery Rock and Millersville at the Millersville Duals on Saturday.
The team jumped out a 16-0 lead against Slippery Rock, en route to a 33-15 win over their PSAC-rival.
At 125, Brian Sellers (Pennsbury/Pennsbury) won in a 9-4 decision, while at 133, Bryan Hart (Easton/Easton) got a pin at the 2:01 mark for the Huskies. Scott Heckman (Bangor/Bangor) and Brad Forbes (Downingtown/Downingtown) got wins for the Huskies at 141 and 149, with Heckman recording his third major decision of the season.
Nate Shirk (Paxtonville/Middleburg) recorded the Huskies' second pin of the match at 184, at the 4:20 minute mark of his match, while Chad Hoare (Reynoldsville/DuBois) won by a technical fall at 197. Aaron Ferrance (Northern Cambria/Bishop Carroll) earned a forfeit at heavyweight for Bloomsburg.
In their second match of the day, the Huskies again got off to a quick start taking a 9-0 lead on their way to a 22-15 win over Millersville.
Sellers and Hart turned in their second wins of the day at 125 and 133. Sellers got his fourth major decision of the season with a 14-4 win over Adam Bunting, while Hart recorded his first technical fall of the season against Millersville's Dave Roberts.
At 149, Forbes earned a major decision over Cody Ebersole, 10-1, while at 157, Josh Loew (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) got an 8-6 win over the Marauder's Jake Rathfon.
Ryan Chulada (Honesdale/Honesdale), at 184, got a win over Mark Knock in a 4-3 decision. At 197, Hoare got his second win of the day in an 8-2 decision over Millersville's Aaron Smith.
On the season, Heckman leads the team with a record of 21-12, while Hart and Shirk are both 15-8. Chulada is 14-11, and Hoare improves to 13-12 with his two wins.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 27, when they travel to Rider University. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
