Bloomsburg Downs Buffalo in College Wrestling

BUFFALO, NY —The Bloomsburg University wrestling team picked up its first win of the season with a 21-9 win over the University at Buffalo Thursday night. The win improves the Huskies mark to 1-1 for the season.

The Huskies fell behind at 125 pounds when Mike Anderson dropped a 4-1 decision. The Huskies tied the score at 3-3 when Tony Curto picked up a 10-4 victory.

Buffalo went ahead 6-3 behind an 8-4 win by Dan Gingerich over the Huskies' George Hickman. Bloomsburg then began to get control of the match winning the six bouts.

The streak started at 149 when Josh Loew decisioned Pat Lloyd, 5-4; then, Chris Tate picked up a tough 4-3 win at 157 pounds.

At 165 pounds, Jim Bertulis won 7-0 over Mickey Moran, then Bryce Hasseman won by a 7-1 score at 174 pounds.

Bloomsburg won its fourth straight match at 184 pounds when Nate Shirk won 8-3 over Garrett Hicks to give the Huskies an 18-6 lead.

At 197 pounds, Chad Hoare continued his early season success with a 10-4 win over Harold Sherrell. Buffalo ended the Huskies' win streak when Jeff Parker won a 7-5 decision over Mike Spaid for a 21-9 final.

Bloomsburg is idle till December 17th when it takes part in the Beast of the East Tournament.
