BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University wrestling coach Dan Wirnsberger has been named the 2004-05 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Wrestling Coach of the Year, while Mike Sees (Northumberland/Shikellamy) has been named the 2004-05 PSAC Rookie of the Year.

Wirnsberger in his third year with the Huskies, guided the team to a record of 10-6 this past season. Among the highlights for the team was its first PSAC title since 1990 as well as its first victories over Edinboro and Lock Haven in over 10 years.

Bloomsburg individuals also combined for two championships and five runner-up finishes at the league championships.  Three wrestlers claimed titles at the Eastern Wrestling League Championships, part of six individuals who earned NCAA Championship berths.  At the NCAA Division I championships, Bloomsburg finished 31st with 16 total points. This is the first honor of its kind for Wirnsberger.

Sees, a 125 pounder, finished his first year with a PSAC-best record in his weight class and a team best after going 21-3 on the year. In his initial season, Sees qualified for nationals as one of only two freshmen to win Eastern Wrestling League titles and he placed second at the PSAC Championships.  Unbeaten in 14 dual matches, one of his wins avenged his loss in the league title match against Lock Haven's Obe Blanc.  For the season, he accumulated three pins, three technical falls and six major decisions.
