Sees Named EWL Wrestler of the Week

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University wrestler Mike Sees (Northumberland/Shikellamy) has been named Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Wrestler of the Week for the period ending Nov. 13, 2005.

Sees finished second at last weekend's Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic falling in the title match to Oklahoma's Sam Hazelwinkel. Sees won his opening match against Rutger's Ricky Ringel, 12-6 to advance to the quarterfinals where he won a 3-1 decision over Ohio University's Caleb Metcalf. In the semifinals, he defeated Brown's Jeff Schell, 11-9 before losing to Hazelwinkel in an 8-6 decision.

On Nov. 7, Sees won the Slippery Rock Open, going 5-0 in the tournament. He tallied a pin, technical fall and a major decision en route to the championship match, where Sees won a 5-3 decision over Pitt-Johnstown's Ryan Mazzocco.

Sees, a 2004 NCAA qualifier, is 8-1 on the season. He finished last season 21-3 and was undefeated in dual matches at 14-0. He also won the EWL Championship at 125 pounds and finished second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament.

The Huskies will open their dual match season hosting EWL-rival Pittsburgh on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
