Bloomsburg Wrestlers Ranked by Intermat
BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University wrestling team earned three individual slots in the most recent Intermat NCAA Division I rankings.
At 125 pounds, Mike Sees (Northumberland/Shikellamy), a 2005 NCAA qualifier, is ranked 18th. Sees is 9-1 on the season, posting a second-place finish at the Oklahoma Gold Classic, falling to first-ranked Sam Hazewinkel of Oklahoma in the finals, 8-6. Sees also got a win in the Huskies’ first dual match, recording an 18-2 technical fall win over Pittsburgh’s Brad Gentzle.
2005 NCAA qualifier Jim Bertulis (Aston/Garnett Valley) earned the 13th slot at the 165-pound weight class. He is 7-3 on the season including three pins, two major decisions and a technical fall. Bertulis won the Slippery Rock Open to open the season, while at the Oklahoma Gold Classic, he recorded a sixth-place finish.
Heavyweight Mike Spaid (Perkiomenville/Boyertown), who finished 2-2 at the NCAA tournament last year, is ranked 19th nationally. Spaid, 1-2 on the season, got a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh’s Mike Heist in the last bout of the match to lift the Huskies to a 17-16 win over their EWL rival.
The Huskies will be idle until Dec. 10 when they travel to West Lafayette, IN for the Purdue Duals.
