Huskies Finish Fifth at Oklahoma Gold Tournament
BROCKPORT, NY--The Bloomsburg University wrestling team finished fifth at the 2007 Oklahoma Gold Tournament held at SUNY-Brockport in New York. The Huskies totaled 92.5 points, while Oklahoma, which won the event, finished with 177.5.
The Huskies had six place winners for the day led by Dennis Bermudez who finished second at 157 pounds. Bermudez lost in the finals to Chad Terry of Oklahoma, 8-2.
Finishing third in their respective weight classes were Mike Sees at 125 pounds and heavyweight Mike Spaid. Sees defeated Joey Flo of Oklahoma in the consolation finals, 12-6, while Spaid beat Nathan Thobaten of Army, 7-6.
Three Huskies also had three fifth place finishes in the event. At 165 Rob Hoffman beat Shaheim Bradshaw of Brockport by injury default, while at 184 Jesses Hasseman downed Josh Hinton of Oklahoma, 6-2. Finally, Eris Shaw at 197 pounds was a 6-5 winner over Jonathan Campbell of Liberty University.
The Huskies begin their 2007-08 dual season on Thursday night hosting Eastern Wrestling League rival Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
