Huskies Roll By Clarion
CLARION-- Bloomsburg University won six of the 10 bouts and went on to post a 22-12 win over Clarion on Friday night in Eastern Wrestling League action.
With the Huskies holding a slim 9-6 lead at the halfway point of the match, the turning point of the evening for the Huskies came at 157 and 165 pounds. Bloomsburg's Matt Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) won by fall in 4:11 at 157, while Ricky Schmelyun (New Oxford/Bermudian Springs) followed up with a win by major decision at 165 giving the Huskies 10 team points and a 19-6 lead. Clarion won three of the final four matches, but all were by the decision giving the Huskies the win.
After falling behind 3-0 to start the night, Ian Moser (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) won his 125-pound bout by a 7-3 score with Jason Guffey (Muncy/Warrior Run) winning at 133 by a 6-0 score. After a win by Clarion at 141, George Hickman (Castle Hayne, NC/Riverside) put the Huskies back in front with a win at 149 pounds setting up the turning point for Bloomsburg. Jesse Hasseman (Franklin, IN/Franklin) finished up the night for the Huskies with a win at 197 pounds.
Bloomsburg, 6-6, 1-2 in the EWL, will wrestle at Cleveland State on Saturday.
