Bloomsburg Wrestling Underclassmen Shine at Michigan State Open


BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University wrestling team participated in the Michigan State Open on Sunday in East Lansing, Mich. The tournament featured a freshman and sophomore division in which eight wrestlers from the team took part in.

The top finishers on the day for the Huskies were Matt Snyder (Lewistown/Lewistown), who went 5-0 at 125-pounds and Josh Roosa (Crestwood/Crestwood), who went 5-0 at 149-pounds. Both wrestlers earned first place finishes in the tournament.

Snyder was perfect on the day picking up four pins in five matches, including a pin in the finals against Jose Matos of Bucknell. Roosa was also perfect on the day, outscoring his opponents 31 to 10 in his first four matches. In the finals, Roosa picked up a13-5 major decision over teammate P J Barch (Ocean View, DE/Sussex Central) to take first place.

Other top finishers for the Huskies included Barch, who went 3-1 at 149-pounds and Jacob Dabishinsky (Schuykill Haven/Blue Mountain), who finished 2-2 in the 184-pound weight class. Barch earned a second place finish, while Dabishinsky finished fifth. In Barch's first three matches he earned an 8-1, 7-2, and 5-3 decision before losing a 13-5 major decision to teammate and first place winner Roosa. In Dabishinsky's first two matches he earned two pins, but then lost his next two matches by a score of 7-0 and 2-1.

The Huskies return to action on November 19th when they travel to Pittsburgh for a EWL match starting at 7:30 p.m.
