Four Women's Soccer Players Named to All-PSAC Squad

BLOOMSBURG—Four members of the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team have been named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team. Alea Balthaser (Hamburg/Hamburg) was named to the first team, while Renee Williams (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West), Heather Hartman (Pleasanton, CA/Amador Valley) and Danielle Brunetti (Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy) all made the second team.

The four have helped the Huskies to a record of 15-3-1, 9-2 in the PSAC, and into the NCAA Playoffs. Bloomsburg will host Slippery Rock in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Bloomsburg lost at Lock Haven in the PSAC Championship game, 1-0, in four overtimes. The Huskies beat Edinboro, 1-0, in the PSAC Semifinals to reach the Championship game.

Balthaser, a senior forward, leads the team with a career-high 19 goals and 45 points. She is second with seven assists, while playing in all of the team's 19 games so far. Balthaser has recorded four hat tricks on the year, including a hat trick in three consecutive games. She also has two, two-goal games on the season.

This is Balthaser's fourth selection to the All-PSAC first team. She was named the PSAC Athlete of the Year in 2000 and 1998 and was also named the 1998 PSAC Rookie of the Year.

In her career, Balthaser is the All-Time Bloomsburg leader in goals (60), assists (35) and points (155).

Williams, a junior forward, has teamed with Balthaser to account for 59 percent of the team's goals to this point. Williams has 13 goals and a team-high 11 assists for a total of 37 points. This is Williams' first time on the All-PSAC Team.

For her career, Williams has 38 goals and 27 assists for a total of 103 points.

Hartman, a freshman goaltender, has been superb all year for the Huskies. She has played in 18 games and has recorded a record of 15-2-1. Hartman has made 96 saves, while allowing just 12 goals on the year en route to a Bloomsburg record 12 shutouts in a single season. She has a 0.62 goals against average and an .889 save percentage.

Brunetti, a senior back, is a big reason Bloomsburg has allowed only 14 goals this year. She provides solid defense and strong senior leadership, which has helped her procure her first All-PSAC honor.

Defensive-minded throughout her four seasons at Bloomsburg, Brunetti has two assists and two points in her career, while playing tireless defensive all the while.
